To Paris, A Love Letter

I’ve talked a bit about my impending move to Paris, but I would like to share some of the reasons that I love this city so much that I am willing to pack up my whole life and move across the world to experience life there.

Dear Paris, My Love,

I fell in love with you on first sight, almost twenty years ago.  It is a love affair that has stood the test of time, distance and differing circumstances.  I love the magic of your beautiful streets and the romance of your old buildings.  You enthrall me with your literary and artistic history and ensnare me with your love of fashion and design.  I love your food and wine and the fact that you value them so highly.  After all, there are not many places in the world where ‘le pain’ has been elevated to an art form!  I love that you stay true to yourself even in the face of hoards of tourists who call you ornery for your unwillingness to adapt to their expectations.  Good for you!  You know who you are and you take pride (and rightfully so) in your ways.  You change only for yourself and not for anyone else.  I love your gilded history and your modern glamor.  In all that is visual stimulating in cultured life, you provide inspiration.  You make me dream bigger and brighter.  I love your style and your grace.  I love the intensity, the arguments and the passion that exist in your culture.  You make me feel alive and thrilled.  I look forward to the the deepening and strengthening of this love affair over time and I can only hope that you will love me as much as I already love you.

Xoxo,

Vanessa
