I was in Barcelona this past weekend. It was a short trip – only 3 nights – but if felt much longer. Flying home, I felt like I had been gone for a week or more. Maybe it was the sun or the long overdue relaxation time, but whatever the reason I felt better than I had in a long time. I spent the weekend sitting in the sun, drinking vino, eating lots of amazing food, and spending time with friends. Here are some photos from my weekend as well as a few of my favorite Barcelona places.

Boquerones. These are fresh anchovies. If you’ve never had these before, you must try them. Forget everything you know about anchovies. These are nothing like the stinky, briny items from a jar. These are fresh, tart, and delicious!
Every time I go to Barcelona I eat clams and they are always the best clams I’ve ever had. I don’t know why they are so good here but the flavor of the clam itself is different. Fresh, a bit sweet, and tasting of the sea; all they need is some good olive oil, a pinch of sea salt and some fresh lemon juice. Perfecto.
It finally feels like Spring! Time to sit outside and enjoy the sun.

Pinotxo Tapas Bar in The Boqueria. This place has amazing tapas. Unfortunately everyone knows this so there is always a line. It’s worth it though. It also happens to be inside one of my favorite markets in Barcelona – La Boqueria. The stands of produce, fresh seafood, spices and cheeses make me wish I had a kitchen in the city to cook in!

Fresh, fresh, fresh seafood!
We spent Saturday at the beach in Sitges. Beautiful sunshine and rainbows.
Chipiriones (squid) and Clara. This was my first time trying clara. It’s a mixture of beer and lemonade. I am in love. I plan to drink it all summer long while sitting on terraces in the sun.

Paella by the beach. Does it get any better?
Seafood paella. The best one I have ever had.
On Sunday before my flight home we walked up to Gaudi’s park Güell for a gorgeous view of Barcelona.

Then it was goodbye to Barcelona. Thank you for an amazing weekend and I can’t wait to visit again!

What did you like most about Barcelona? You seem like you covered a lot, but what about La Sagrada Familia?
Hi Harriet,
I have been to Barcelona before so I did not go to all the sites this time. I was at La Sagrada Familia years ago and it was amazing! This trip was more about spending time with friends in the sun and eating good food.
Thanks for your questions!
