How do you stay creative?

Vanessa Larson

I have been thinking about creativity a lot lately.  For the first time in my adult life, I am not surrounded by creativity in my daily life.  I’m surrounded by vague theory, numbers, strategy, and unfathomable signs like sigma and mu.  It’s the polar opposite of what I define as ‘my world’.  I suddenly find myself having to make a conscious effort to stay in touch with creativity and the esthetic world that I love.  This blog has become a platform to do that.  Without it I might drown in facts and figures.  My commitment to maintaining this blog has become the motivation to find beauty in my daily life.

While pondering creativity and motivation, I rewatched THIS Ted talk from Elizabeth Gilbert, the author of Eat, Pray, Love.  Her talk is an old favorite of mine and an interesting interpretation of where creativity comes from.  In the end, Elizabeth says that all you can really do is commit to showing up.

What do you think? Where do you find creativity?  What are some other good articles or videos about creativity?
