Last weekend I had one of those perfect summer days in Paris. Lovely weather, great company, and lots of amazing food and wine. We wandered Paris, content to relax and take it all in. It was my favorite kind of day.
We started with burgers from Cantine California. I chose the cali classic sans bacon (I know! I love bacon and I love burgers, I just don’t love them together. Sacrilegious I know.) with gooey avocado, sharp white cheddar and red onions. The California Cantine food truck has real burgers and tacos that remind me of home. I can’t wait to go back!
Frites from Cantine California. Delish.
We needed a walk after all that food and strolled around the Tuileries where this carnival was going on.
We wanted to go on the ferris wheel but it is 10 euros per person. What?!?
We wandered through this square that I had never seen before. I love the black and white stripes!
And stopped to watch some amazing street musicians.
After out walk we were ready for some wine. I had heard about a free wine tasting event through Paris by Mouth. It was for the launch of Paris Wine Company and was being held at Verjus. How can you turn down free wine? The Chenin Blancs that we tried were my personal favorites.
We then headed over to Chinatown in the 13th arr. to meet up with another friend. In one of the small stores there I found mangosteens! These are one of my favorite fruits but I have never seen them outside Southeast Asia. Of course I bought a whole bunch and I can’t wait to go back for more.
We strolled through Chinatown running into a few coneheads (?!) in the park before stopping for a glass of wine on a sunny terrace.
We finished the evening with Vietnamese food at Pho 14 with amazing and authentic spring rolls and pho.
